Asbestos Awareness Course
Any potential risks relating to asbestos exposure require careful control – and with good reason. Asbestos related diseases are responsible for around 5000 deaths each year in the UK. This is almost 3 times the number of road fatalities, and the laws relating to asbestos reflect this.
The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012 cover all manner of responsibilities and controls that must be in place, including asbestos management of non-domestic premises. Asbestos was finally banned in the UK in November 1999. The significant problem remains that buildings (including refurbishments) prior to this may still contain asbestos. It is estimated that millions of tonnes of asbestos are still present in buildings throughout the UK.
As an employer or building owner, it is your legal responsibility to ensure that your employees and visitors are not put at risk from asbestos exposure.

Installation engineers (telecoms, fire alarm/security, data)

Gas fitters
Such information, instruction, training and supervision must cover 11 aspects relating to asbestos and be given at regular intervals to satisfy the regulatory requirements. There are additional requirements for workers who do disturb asbestos as part of the work (either non-licensed or notifiable non-licensed work) which can be covered as part of this Asbestos Awareness Course.
Course provision is by certified and qualified BOHS P402 trainers. A certificate of attendance will be issued on successful course completion.
